The next Legend of Zelda is a Warriors game telling the Tears of the Kingdom’s war tale

It’s the Age of Imprisonment in Zelda

The Legend of Zelda has had a bit of a bouncy path over the last few years, going from the giant open world games to classically inspired 2D games, to music rhythm to musou. Last year we saw the excellent Exchoes of Wisdom grace our consoles, and the year prior was all about Tears of the Kingdom. While maybe it’s not yet time for a giant new Zelda experience, it definitely is okay to drop another offshoot, albeit a meaningful one.

Nintendo and Koei Tecmo have announced a new Hyrule Warriors game, Age of Imprisonment, that shows the events of Tears‘ Imprisoning War. This war was essentially the initial defeat of Ganondorf before his resurrection in the last game, and this game will be canon towards telling that story.

The Warriors game will feature Zelda, King Rauru and all of the ancient warriors as they take on waves and hordes of enemies as the plot unfolds around them.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 next Winter.
