Hyrule comes to life on the big screen in just two years
Nintendo Today!, the new news & lifestyle delivery app from Nintendo that was announced and released yesterday, has already dropped some incredibly big news: The Legend of Zelda live-action movie will arrive on March 26, 2027.
The news was announced within the app, with a quick animated teaser of the Zelda logo alongside the familiar theme from the original game.
The film, co-produced by Nintendo and Arad Productions Inc., and directed by Wes Ball and co-financed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., is the next live-action movie from Nintendo’s main franchises, if you don’t consider Detective Pikachu as a part of Nintendo lore, since the abysmal (but somehow more beloved now?) original Super Mario Bros movie featuring Bob Hoskins.
This comes on the heels of the mega-popular animated Super Mario Bros Movie from Illumination, and its impending sequel next year in 2026.
The big questions that remain are casting, plot, and WILL LINK TALK? (Answer: he probably will).
