Gunnar Overwatch Reaper glasses review

Gunnar Overwatch Reaper glasses review

The latest Gunnar glasses are lightweight, stylish, and do a great job of toning down the blazing screens

Gunnar is the premiere PC glasses manufacturer, and that title affords them the opportunity to work with a variety of brands across the entertainment landscape. We recently reviewed the Fallout glasses and enjoyed them, and the latest set to grace our heads is themed around Overwatch 2‘s REAPER.

And they’re good!

While not a wild, goggle-like design like the Fallout version, the Overwatch 2 Reaper design is a much more traditional, utilizing a plastic frame and tinted lenses. While this specific set wasn’t prescription (something that a few on staff would prefer) that option is now available, so fans of the design will get the benefits. The frame is wide but not thick, meaning that it’s designed to look and feel more like it’s wrapping around our face rather than just touching off of it. And just so we don’t feel like it look too thick, there’s a nice detail line and undercut along the sides to the front so that our eye interprets a thinner sidemember than is actually there. It’s a nice detail, and prevents the glasses from looking like something we would have seen in an Offspring video in 1998.

Even with the width, the glasses are lightweight. It’s been easy to forget that I’m wearing them, and I’ve pulled an “old” and looked for them while they were still on. The only thing that reminds me that I’m wearing them is that they’re a tad bit too tight at the ends, sometimes pushing a little too much down at my ears. The only visible and explicit Overwatch details are the Reaper icons on the side, which are large but not overpowering.

The tint I have, the 65 “Amber”, is not too yellow, which is a good thing. Gunnar seems to have figured out how to reduce strong lights coming in without washing out everything in an ochre hue. They’re still warm in color but it doesn’t sacrifice what I’m watching. I’ve taken it to my main office and used it on three screens at once, on our television at home, and while playing on the Switch and the Steamdeck, and everything views fine.

This latest pair of Gunnar’s are a nice, clean, subdued design that fans will appreciate. They don’t scream Overwatch, but they don’t have to. They just have to look good, feel good, and work well, and this pair most certainly does.

This review is based on a physical pair of glasses sent to SideQuesting by the manufacturer. The video first appeared on the March 3rd, 2025 episode of The SideQuest.
