Take out the dinosaurs again, for the first time
Turok was a mainstay of the Nintendo 64 era. It was one of the first FPS games that console players really got into, and the series managed to make a place for itself over the years. Based on an old, old comic book series (the original Turok comics were released in the 1950s!) the games picked up with Valiant Comics’ reboot of the IP in the 90s.
After a bit of a hiatus Turok is finally back, and now has a new game in the works. Revealed at the Game Awards, Turok: Origins is a new take, aiming to modernize the series while maintaining the speed and scale of the original.
The big shift, as seen in the trailer above, is the move to third person. As players take down enemies they can harness the DNA of the fallen and the environment to improve their abilities, looks and skills. The game can be played solo or with up to two other friends in co-op, and takes place across the Turok IP’s Lost Lands, a place where humans and Dinosaurs and aliens mix.
There’s no release date yet for the game, but it will soon be ready to wishlist on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. More info can be found at the game’s website.
