There’s a new TMNT game on the way, and it’s TURN BASED

TAKEDOWN these notes: the Turtles are back

There sure have been A LOT of TMNT games over the last couple of years. From collections to retro influenced games to ports, the Turtles have been all over out gaming devices — but they’ve mostly been the same, sticking to brawlers more than anything else.

But now, SOMETHING NEW AND DIFFERENT.

When I was younger, I always wanted a TMNT RPG. I grew up with the turn-based games coming out of Japan, and wondered “what if” when it came to the half-shelled heroes. It seems as though the powers at be have finally heard my cries, 30+ years later: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown has been revealed, and it looks pretty neat!

Strange Scaffold, the developers behind El Paso, Elsewhere and I Am Your Beast, are behind the upcoming game, which will take on a tactics-based approach to the icons. Set on a field of squares, players will make strategic moves and attacks in hopes to defeat the enemies in their way as they take on a new threat. You see, both Shredder AND Splinter are dead in this game, so it’s set in a new era of the characters that hasn’t really been explored yet.

Each Turtle has its own set of abilities, and with 20 different levels that shift and change and grow players will need to understand those strengths and weaknesses as they take on the individual missions.

Yeah, man, this looks neat! The game is due to launch on platforms in 2025, and hopefully help lead to an era of new game ideas for the heroes.
