Nightreign brings co-op to the Lands Between
Well, we weren’t expecting THAT. From Software, who has been swearing up and down that they weren’t making any more Elden Ring any time soon decided to make more Elden Ring and it’s releasing soon. Revealed at the Game Awards, Elden Ring: Nightreign is a standalone game that’s focused on co-op play. It’s a wild mix of, well, A LOT OF THINGS and quite challenging to pin down — but that’s kind of the point.
As noted in the trailer, this is a multiplayer game where players will team up to take on enemies across day and night, with a big boss battle at the end of each day. There are specific playable characters that players will take control of, instead of creating their own. The hook of the game is the ever-changing world; as the “creeping night” arrives it changes the landscape for the next day.
So let’s put this all together: monster hunting + rogue aspects + co-op live servicey + Elden Ring. That’s a lot! Will it work? No idea. FromSoft doesn’t usually miss with their swings. Elden Ring: Nightreign will launch in 2025 with a closed network test in February.
