It’s (almost) the Year of Kong
Next year will be busy for Donkey Kong. There’s a remake on the way for Donkey Kong Country Returns coming to the Switch, probably some of the first info on the Super Mario Bros Movie sequel, and the launch of the Donkey Kong themed part of Super Nintendo World.
That last one, Nintendo’s amusement park within Universal Studios, is set to launch in Japan next year — and Nintendo will now give us the much-anticipated first look.
The company has announced a Direct taking place tomorrow, November 11, at 2PM PT/5PM ET to showcase the upcoming area, known as Donkey Kong Country. There’s not much known, but expect a lot of bananas, barrels, and probably a minecart ride. Maybe we’ll see Funky Kong!
Anyhoo, it’s streaming on the ole YouTube, so make sure to swing on over if you’d like to check out what’s in store for the theme park.
Super Nintendo World officially opened in Japan in 2021, in California in 2023, and will be hitting Florida and Singapore in 2025. It’s not confirmed if/when Donkey Kong Country will arrive at the other parks yet.
