Anniversary celebration graphic may depict a new PlayStation
Whoopsie. Sony may have just revealed what the as-yet-unannounced PS5 Pro might look like. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of PlayStation, the company released a special graphic on its PlayStation Blog to celebrate the device’s birthday, and hidden inside was a strange version of the PS5 — one with stripes on the side.
Rumors of a PS5 Pro have been around since, well, the PS5 launched. It’s a given that a more powerful mid-cycle enhancement would arrive for the console because that’s how the companies just function these days, in efforts to prolong product lifecycles and keep fans in the ecosystems longer. Recently, though, notable leaker billbill-kun revealed that they’ve seen information about the imminent announced of the PS5 Pro (within the next couple of weeks) alongside what the thing looks like. It’s essentially a PS5 but with “racing stripes” on the side. Contrary to popular belief they will not make the PS5 Pro run faster, but will help visually differentiate it from us peons who won’t have one.
The device would come in an all-digital flavor, with the “stripes” being a potential separation point to add an external Blue Ray drive, possibly the existing PlayStation 5 drive.
Whatever the details are, we’ll very likely know in the next one to two weeks as Tokyo Game Show happens at the end of the month and publishers will want to showcase the most powerful versions of their games.
