The museum opens October 2024
Cheap flights are available, my friends. That’s the one good thing about this wild exchange rate with the value of the yen dropping so much against the dollar. I can head to Japan, stay in Japan, and enjoy Japan for a lot less than just a few years ago.
I might have a reason, too, since Nintendo has formally announced October 2024 as the opening date for the official Nintendo Museum. In a special Nintendo Direct, Shigeru Miyamoto took fans on a tour of the facility, showing off some of the activities and zones that visitors can enjoy.
Included in the Direct was a tour of Nintendo’s gaming history, a look at the pre-video game products it created, and even a play area where fans can enjoy playing games on giant controllers — including a massive Wii Remote that requires a couple folks to maneuver. God, it’s so freaking cool.
Other areas shown were light gun zones, Hanafuda card play areas, art stations, and more. It looks like a right good time.
The Nintendo Museum opens on October 2, 2024 and requires a Nintendo Account (free!) to make a reservation. At least your Mii will be on your physical pass, so that’s cool too. Nintendo is also offering a lottery for the initial opening of the location at their website, where you can find more info in general on what you’ll find at the facility.
