Gremlins still fart when they’re saving the world
While you may or may not have heard of indie developer Maschinen-Mensch, you might be familiar with their popular roguelike Curious Expedition 2, which has garnered a ton of praise and a fan following since its 2020 release. The dev is back with a new project that looks just as quirky and ambitious in Mother Machine.
The project is a multiplayer platformer that has groups of four friends bouncing and climbing and farting their way around a procedurally-generated world. The plot is actually pretty interesting: it follows groups of chaos gremlins created and sent out by an AI (“mother”) to explore their planet, which was once colonized and abandoned by humans. As one would expect, things go sideways, and the little slimy dudes and dudettes slowly uncover some sinister things taking place.
Even though it can be played alone, the co-op nature of the game seems really intriguing, especially considering that the game has some lite action RPG elements mixed in, too.
Mother Machine is coming to PC and unspecified consoles in 2025.
