Chase, crash, shoot — just like I-75 on a weekend
You’ve never heard of Fatal Run. It’s okay to admit that. Not many people remember the racing demolition game that graced the Atari 2600 and 7800 in 1990, when the world had already entered 16-bit platforms. But Atari did. Does. Do?
The company continues to reach back into their vaults and bring their IP into the modern era, sometimes kicking and screaming, and other times with some cool results. Fatal Run 2089 doesn’t just add a neon visual bump to the original, Atari is instead opting to rebuild this game from the ground up with big, monstrous vehicles, explosive combat, and a lot of wrecks. It’ll include 4 regions and 20 tracks, alongside “challenges” and boss battles. Beyond that we’re not quite sure what else will be included, and if it will be able to do more than just have us race to the finish and blow up a boss.
Either way, it visually looks like it’s jumping right into the post-apocalypse, where we might end up when the game launches for all platforms and PC in 2025.
