It’s a total digital eclipse of the wizard heart
Over the weekend, I went gaga for the aurora borealis. The incredible experience was I had always wanted to experience, but felt that I would have to go out of my way to actually come across. But no, it came to me. It came to my back yard. All I had to do was look up.
Wizardry was one of those game series that I never got into but I always heard about. It was a game on devices that I wasn’t a part of at the time or had just circled away from, and I never intended to go back to a platform just for this game.
But now it’s coming to me, on whatever platform I want. Digital Eclipse’s remake of Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord is headed my way on May 23 — maybe I’ll play it on my SteamDeck, or maybe I’ll play it on my Switch, or maybe I’ll play it wherever I want. It’s no longer landlocked. And it looks good!
Digital Eclipse promises the game to be just as challenging as the original — it’s built over that old code, in a way — with modern quality of life updates and a graphic & controls overhaul. It’s been in Early Access since September, and now, later this month, it’ll be fully released and in front of my eyes.
