Game announcements we’re excited about: Reynatis, Pokemon Legends ZA, Elden Ring and more

See, there are still games on the way

It’s been a busy few weeks, with a ton of news good and bad. Even with our heads cloudy, though, there are plenty of games on the way to (hopefully) bring some smiles to our faces. Here are some of the ones we’re most looking forward too over the next year or so.

Reynatis

Reynatis has some heavyweight narrative folks behind it, with RPG vets helming the story. Kazushige Nojima (Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts) is handling the scenario writing, and Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts, Legend of Mana) will compose. It looks to grab themes from those games, too, but drop players into an alternate Shibuya that focuses on magic and wizards. It hits PlayStation, Switch and PC later this year.

Pepper Grinder

Devolver’s Pepper Grinder has been on our radar for a minute, with a solid mix of 2D platforming, drilling, and motion. The latest trailer reveals that the game lands on platforms later this month.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

We’ve been waiting forever for the Elden Ring DLC, and now we finally have the info we’ve been looking for: it’s going to be just as dark, just as challenging, and just as time consuming as we were hoping for. Oh, and it’s coming in June.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble

The Super Monkey Ball games hold a special place in every Gamecube nostalgic’s heart. The series has since spawned a few sequels and remakes, but it’s been a while since a brand new entry in the series had arrived. SEGA aims to remedy that by giving us a real gosh darn new Monkey Ball, with Banana Rumble bringing a fully new experience (and 16-player online) exclusively to the Switch this June.

Kingmakers

Kingmakers is a bonkers concept. It’s a shooter/strategy game that stars a time traveler taking on medieval English hordes with modern weapons. Guns and helicopters versus arrows and trebuchets. Let’s fucking go. The game is coming this year to PC.

Pokemon Legends ZA

The original Pokemon Legends: Arceus was an ambitious kind of spin-off for the series, focusing on more action and narrative than the traditional ‘Mon games. It had issues, but it sold well enough for The Pokemon Company and Nintendo to announce a sequel. Pokemon Legends ZA is set in a future version of Lumiose City in Kalos, and seems to play off of the infamous “Pokemon Z” game that fans wanted but never materialized. It’s been announced for Switch for 2025, but we reckon it might also be landing on the next Switch, too.

Aerial_Knight’s We Never Yield

Aerial_Knight’s We Never Yield is (obviously) a sequel to the original 2.5D parkour runner that graced platforms a few years back. This game adds new elements like co-operative multiplayer and split-control single player with an all-new story. It launches on PC later this year.
