Nintendo Direct and Pokémon Presents lined up for the next week, HERE ARE SOME RUMORS

It’s-a-news coming our way

The rumors are true. Nintendo has announced a Nintendo Direct is on the way for this week. The company revealed that a Partner Showcase was on the way for Thursday, February 21, 2024 at 9AM ET/6AM PT on YouTube, with “25 mins of info focused on Nintendo Switch games coming in the first half of 2024 from our publishing and development partners.” That means (mostly) third party games and possibly some second party work, a la what the company did with the Another Code collection recently.

The Direct was initially supposed to happen last week, if insiders are to be believed, but the Microsoft news shifted plans — maybe because something from Microsoft is headed to Switch, wink wink. It’s also not a full big first party Direct, as the company has been dropping a bunch of news at a regular pitch on social media over the last few weeks. This is likely because the first party Switch slate is drying up, as internal resources have moved onto Switch 2. An announcement for the next console could be coming soon, in other words.

The rumors are rampant already, so scroll down if you may want to have your bite-size snack ruined.

The Pokémon Company has also announced a presentation for next week. Taking place in celebration of Pokémon’s anniversary on Pokémon Day, the video will be streamed at 9AM ET/6AM PT on the Pokémon YouTube channel.

RUMOR TIME! Maybe some SPOILERS ahead!

The Direct is focusing on third parties, but may also feature some Nintendo published work. An Endless Ocean collection is rumored, as is Game Freak’s Pocket Card Jockey update, which is out on Apple Arcade, coming to Switch. Microsoft’s Pentiment and/or Hi-Fi Rush are set to make it to the platform, and maaaaaybe even Sea of Thieves and Grounded. Shin Megami Tensai V looks like it’s getting a complete edition, so that could be announced, alongside more Persona (P3 Reload?). And Square Enix always supports Nintendo with games at these things, so perhaps we’ll finally hear about the Dragon Quest III HD2D remake, too.

As far as Pokémon goes, this is a remake year, with Black/White being rumored alongside another spinoff like Mystery Dungeon.

We’ll update this post if more rumors pop up.
