Another classic in the Gold Master Series piques our interest yet again
At this point, everything Digital Eclipse touches turns to nostalgia gold, which is why OH HEY THEY NAMED THEIR PROJECT “THE GOLD MASTER SERIES”! After the excellent Atari 50 and The Making of Karateka, the company is focusing on another legendary force in gaming: Jeff Minter.
Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story will follow the developer’s life as one of the most influential early names, from the Sinclair to the Jaguar, with videos, artwork, interviews, and a collection of 42 games that he worked on. These kinds of interactive documentaries that Digital Eclipse is known for are becoming essential for game preservation, not only keeping the games available but also allowing us to see the development process and the people behind the projects.
I really hope more companies take this approach. As collections of classic games have become more plentiful over the last few years, including the process behind them is arguably just as important.
Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story arrives in 2024.
