An open world strategy game that hits all the notes but slogs in its performance
There’s a lot to like about this game. An open world strategy game, it takes some of the best aspects of the Strategy RPG genre (great storytelling, great battles, huge, expansive world) and even mixes in an isometric viewpoint with cool visual design.
It tickles me in a way I want to be tickled, and it’s a really well thought-out and conceptualized game — except that this Switch version runs like junk.
There are times when a loading screen will take 20 seconds to get through, or the fps will drop to single digits. It’s a poorly optimized port of a great game, and one that we recommend picking up elsewhere until the developers can correct some of these major issues.
This review is based on a Switch eShop code sent to SideQuesting by the publisher. It originally appeared on the September 24th episode of The SideQuest.
