Pizza Possum review

Pizza Possum review

A silly, simple game about a hungry possum that’s cozy enough for a weekend playthrough.

Pizza Possum is one of the more digestible cozy games to release in recent years. It’s wildly approachable, with straightforward controls and a vibrant, easy to traverse world. It should come as no surprise then that the experience leaves us with smiles and giggles each time we pick up the controller.

The entire game is not much longer than a couple of hours, relying on us to run around eating all of the food in a town while we play keepaway from the local police pups. We’re basically a vacuum with a pointy snout and a nice cap, and we’re hungry and the bad guys don’t want us to steal the food so they chase us — and that’s it! Because we see food we instinctively want to take it, even if it puts us in harm’s way. How we get out of sticky situations is up to us; we can try and run a way, hide in a cave, or throw a dog bone to distract the cops. It’s very lite stealth, but that’s what works.

Cosy Computer’s Pizza Possum is undeniably a charming little adventure, especially one that my daughter and I enjoy goofy around with together, screaming and pointing “run away! run away!” as we hand the controller back and forth. It’s difficult to go wrong when you have a game starring cute, feisty marsupial.
