It’s the same game you remember and love, even down to the price
Rockstar Games’ back catalog of crime simulators has been slow to arrive on the Switch over the last few years, and when it does it’s been to some middling results. Now, we’re finally getting the game that we’ve really, REALLY wanted on the device: Red Dead Redemption!
Cool, right? COOL!
Well, hold up. There are a few, uh, issues here. Rockstar Games seems to be treating their older games with a weird absolute bottom level of updates, and it’s indicative here with the notes that RDR will not have any new visual updates or even the new features that have been adjusted to the game over the years on Xbox, instead opting to just add new languages and that’s it.
Does it look exactly the same as the 360 version? Yes. And by golly, that STILL looks good in 2023. But the publisher could have done some work to modernize it *JUST* a smidge, considering that it’s been over a decade. Granted, we’re excited all over again to play it on a portable device, considering Rockstar seems to hate PC gamers right now, but what may sting the most is that the price is set at $50 for this latest version (both on Switch and PlayStation 4). FIFTY DOLLARS! For a 13 year old game! A game that’s quite literally a lateral port onto two devices!
Look for Red Dead Redemption, and accept it, on August 17th digitally and a physical release on October 13th.
