Nose to nose with Ifrit at Square Enix’s special FFXVI event

Earlier this month, at a special event prior to the launch of Final Fantasy XVI, Square Enix showcased the game and stage shows to a rabid fanbase, media and partners. While all eyes were on the people at the front (or the demos on the side), situated at the back of the room was a huge display of props, upcoming merchandise, and one BIG ASS IFRIT. These items are typically seen at places like E3, but, uh, yeah. Anyhoo, they were there, in a big film production warehouse, and added a little extra flavor in between playing the game and watching the development team chat about it.

Here’s our gallery of some of the things that were on-site. Some of the VERY COOL THINGS.

Here’s a big, life size(?) Ifrit Eikon, just brooding and ready to launch some fire at us. It was beautifully, and menacingly, lit during the show.

Here’s Ifrit as an action figure. It’s the prototype for the BRING ARTS figure that’s on the way:
