Pikmin 4 brings in glowing Pikmin, houses, and night time

A new Pikmin game with new Pikmin, you say? AND THEY GLOW?

Pikmin 4 is upon us next month, and today Nintendo revealed a big chunk of what’s in store for players.

The game looks to include a ton of new locations, including caves and inside of homes, both a first for the series. This is coupled with the ability to adventure at night, something that past Pikmin games used as a time stop. Alongside the previously revealed Ice Pikmin, brand new little plant people will be available specifically for night time events: Glow Pikmin. These spooky ghost-like dudes will let players manage their evening work, and give off a soft light to guide the way (or scare us).

Also new to the series (and previously revealed) is the ability to create a custom character, but now we know why: players new recruits sent on a mission for the Rescue Corps to this weird distant planet, where they need to meet with the Rescue Pup Oatchi to find and bring back the explorers who landed before them. A new multiplayer game mode, Dandori Battles, tasks players with collecting as many items as possible before time runs out, so that they can end up being the one who saves the specific castaway.

Pikmin 4 is looking just as delightful as past games in the series. It arrives on Switch on July 21st.

Nintendo also revealed that the original Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2 are being rereleased for the Switch starting today, with both a bundle and individual games available now and a bundled physical edition arriving in September.
