Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora looks like Mirror’s Edge with flying and I’m digging it

Run, jump, fly over the world of the Na’vi

We’re fully in a world now where games that have been often-delayed over the last several years are finally setting firm(ish) release dates. Ubisoft’s Avatar game has been one of those, and it’s now time to roost — literally, maybe. The newest trailer for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora shows off the world of Pandora in all of its lush glory, as well as the human dangers that are behind its demise. The game will focus on a young Na’vi that has been taken from her tribe by humans and trained as a weapon. As a things begin to fall apart she’s thrown into a cryogenic deep freeze for her safety, and when she emerges 15 years later realizes it’s time to connect with her Na’vi roots and take down the people behind the calamity.

There’s a lot to like in the trailer, but it’s the parkour gameplay that we’re most excited about. The serious Mirror’s Edge vibes of the on-foot traversal looks speedy and thrilling, while the jump and transition to third person when flying on an Ikran (one of the multi-winged beasts in the world) looks like a load of fun.

A second trailer shows an overview of the world and the game, and focuses on the plot that will guide the adventure.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora arrives on December 7th for Xbox Series, PS5, and PC.
