Is Assassin’s Creed nostalgia a thing now? Mirage says yes.
With Assassin’s Creed Valhalla being such a huge, expansive experience, and the next phase of the IP being an interconnected web of projects, the next actual game is scaling things back a little. Call it a refocusing, call it an homage, but Assassin’s Creed: Mirage is putting the energy into leaning into some of the strongest elements of great Assassin’s Creed experiences in the past.
The story trailer above sends the series back to the Middle East to explore Basim’s history, and in subsequent gameplay clips below we see that we’re going to be doing that classic parkour and stealth kills that series is so famous for. The game is also adding something called the Assassin’s Focus, which lets players take out up to 4 enemies at a time.
And that’s really all you need! We may not have a full remake of the original Assassin’s Creed, but Mirage is working from a solid foundation, with tons of the quality of life improvements from the rest of the series, and it looks like it’s going to make fans pretty happy.
Assassin’s Creed: Mirage launches on October 12 for PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, PC, and Amazon Luna.
