Tears of John Deeres
During its Nintendo Direct today, the company revealed a brand new trailer for its upcoming Zelda sequel, Tears of the Kingdom. The game will take a darker approach to the franchise than we’ve seen in recent years. In the trailer someone (Ganon? Agahnim? A new enemy?) narrates the fall of Hyrule, speaking to their armies.
Link is seen traversing the land as it falls apart into darkness, with new sky areas to launch from and new machines to ride (there’s a FREAKING TRACTOR?!), while he takes on enemies new and old.
With all in peril, Zelda asks someone (the Gods? the Seven Heroines?) to step in and give Link their power.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom launches on Switch on May 12, 2023. For real this time.
It’ll arrive in a standard ($69.99) and Limited edition ($129.99). There’s also an amiibo on the way, too, that adds items and fabric for Link’s glider.
