Classic GameCube JRPGs getting the remaster treatment
During its Direct today, Nintendo revealed that the two of its premiere GameCube era JRPGs are finally coming to Switch. Rumored for the last several months (years?) both Baten Kaitos games are arriving together in one collection. Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster brings the series to Switch with some big improvements.
Visual and audio aside, the games will now include: “stabilizing the frame rate, “Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster” introduces new features such as encounters-off, auto-battle, skip cutscenes, and auto-save to make it even more accessible to new players.” The games will also only use Japanese VA this time.
Both games were developed by Monolith Soft, who have gone on to create the popular Xenoblade Chronicles series for Nintendo. The card-based Baten Kaitos series is a little more focused on turn-based battles than its successors, but provided some of the better story-telling of that generation of role-play gaming.
Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster from Bandai Namco arrive exclusively on Switch this Summer.
