The World Ends With Elite Beat Overdrive
During Xbox’s recent Developer_Direct (it’s required by law to say the “underscore” in the title) its Bethesda publishing arm and Tango Gameworks development arm revealed their latest game, Hi-Fi Rush. And it launched that very second!
Yes, by now you’ve probably heard about this surprise game and drop, but to refresh your mind:
It’s a third person action game focusing on rhythm-based combos to attack enemies and explore a skater punk inspired futuristic world. Also, there’s a robotic cat you can pet. The hero of the game, Chai, is hell-bent on becoming a rock star, and signs up to a special secretive company project that inadvertently turns him into an iPod-imbued musical action star.
We’ve been digging into the experience and are finding it to be quite good. It has a charming style that matches its equally charming story and characters. It includes some terrific musical bangers from the 90s, too, to match its almost PacSun aesthetic. And best of all, it’s now on Game Pass for PC and console.
Anyhoo, this is a reminder to grab the game and dive in, in case for some reason it slipped your mind.
Shame on you.
