Isaac Clarke talks now!
Dead Space is back! Well, a remake is, anyways. The Dead Space remake, announced earlier this year, has finally given us a look at its gameplay. And it should be familiar to fans of the series.
In the trailer above, we see what makes Dead Space (the OG versions) special: dark hallways in space, cutting off alien limbs, and stomping. Oh! And also zero gravity floating.
All of that was in the original game, and with this remade version EA’s Motive studio isn’t straying too far from the formula. In fact, the game seems to share more in common with that first foray than we initially thought. Yes, it’s a remake, but not like Final Fantasy 7. No, this looks to be more of the “we rebuilt this same game from the ground up, as if we were making it the first time today” vein. Some of the locations appear identical, alongside the off-center third person viewpoint and even the aiming & shooting while holding a flashlight.
And you know what? We’re okay with that! Games don’t need full, complete remakes all of the time, especially when they’re a fine wine like the original Dead Space game already is. This new version will include updated sequences, quality of life adjustments, and features found in the later games. Oh, you know what else it’ll have? Isaac Clarke, speaking.
Dead Space launches on PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC in January.
