Hallelujah, E3 seems to be on the right track
E3 2023 has been dated. The ESA and ReedPop today announced that the Big Game Show will return from June 11-15, split up into a special series of days and events.
Starting on Sunday, June 11th, the E3 streams will “uplift” and share partnered presentations, both digital (and maybe even in person?) throughout the length of the show. This is typically the day that Microsoft hosts their press conferences, alongside others in recent years. In the past, Sony, SquareEnix and Ubisoft hosted livestreams on the following Monday, with Nintendo’s usual E3 Direct on Tuesday mornings. There’s no indication of specific dates and/or companies the ESA will be working with, but we’re guessing that at least one or two of our favorites from the past will be there. In recent years, Capcom has held digital events, and CD Projekt Red became known for their regular Night City WIre shows.
Starting on June 13th, that Tuesday, E3 will open for Industry Days. This will last until the 15th. Industry and Media access will take place in a specific Hall at the LACC, and focus on hands-on and interaction with developers, publishers, and more.
On June 15th & 16th E3 will open to the public for Gamer Days, which will take place inside a different hall at the massive convention center and incorporate hands-on, media personalities, and a theater for viewing of inside looks, special broadcasts, and more.
The split between Industry and Public days has been sought after by folks in the industry for a long time now, as the security issues and crowds were often massive and tough to deal with.
More details will be announced in the weeks and months to come, but for now you can officially schedule your time off of work for “training”.
