Make your schedule of game purchases, then scratch it all off
We can no longer just blame COVID on its own for game delays. Development has changed, the tools have changed, and the time to develop bigger and bigger games has changed. Game development is simply just that much more unpredictable now, for a variety of reasons, and pinning down a release date months in advance is now usually impossible to achieve.
But, we’re also used to it. We know that it’s difficult, and we know that it’s more important to create a great game than it is to hit a release date so that shareholder value is maximized with sales returns. Ugh. So, we’ve collected a list of some of the games we’re interested in checking out and their newest release dates, and hope that they can hit that timing — no worries if not. We’ll write things in out calendar with a pencil.
