Back to basics and beginnings for the series
Rumors over the last year or so had pegged the next Assassin’s Creed as return to a smaller, more traditionally-oriented direction. While Valhalla was well received, it was a huge, sprawling endeavor that was the peak of a trajectory that the series had been heading in after Origins and Odyssey. The next game, it was said, was going to be shorter and more focused.
That looks to be the case now, as Ubisoft has revealed that the next game will be Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
Set in Baghdad, the game will head to an era of assassins, throwing knives, rooftops, and supposedly a lot of NPCs. The game was rumored to have at one point been a chunky piece of DLC/spin-off of Valhalla, but it now seems to be going the Rogue route.
“Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the next Assassin’s Creed game. We can’t wait to tell you more on September 10 at Ubisoft Forward: 9PM CEST | 12PM PT. We can’t wait to tell you more on September 10 at Ubisoft Forward: 9PM CEST | 12PM PT,” the company tweeted.
We’ll find out more at Ubisoft’s big next Forward event on the 10th.
