The future of microconsoles is NOW
The SEGA Genesis Mini is a neat little device, featuring some of the best Genesis/Mega Drive games that ever released. However, there were a lot missing off of that list, including those that arrived via SEGA CD.
Now, SEGA wants to give those games their time in the sun (and another way to line the Blue Hedgehog’s pockets) by announcing the Mega Drive (Genesis) Mini 2, now featuring SEGA CD games. The device is modeled after the Genesis II, a redesign of the original console. Though the company promises 50 games on the device, it has so far only revealed 10:
- Virtua Racing (Genesis)
- Shining in the Darkness (Genesis)
- Thunder Force IV (Genesis)
- Bonanza Bros (Genesis)
- Magical Taruruto (Genesis)
- Silpheed (Sega CD)
- Sonic CD (Sega CD)
- Shining Force CD (Sega CD)
- Popful Mail (Sega CD)
- Mansion of Hidden Souls (Sega CD)
The device will arrive in Japan on October 27 for ¥9,980 (or about $75). No word on a Western release yet.
