It’s Fallout in space but bigger, as Bethesda showcases Starfield gameplay

Explore over 1000 planets in the upcoming space RPG

During today’s Not-E3 Xbox Game Showcase 2022, Bethesda took the time out to show us the first true gameplay of ist upcoming massive Starfield project — and massive is perhaps an understatement. The 15-minute session revealed several aspects of the game that will make the title that much more immersive.

Gameplay-wise, it mimics what we know of Fallout, with first- and third-person gameplay, exploration of environments and cities, interaction with NPCs, and even digital lock-picking. Players will have the ability to customize their ships, join with the Constellation, a sort of spacefaring faction like Fallout’s Brotherhood, and land anywhere on the planet.

Or planets, actually. That may be the most exciting aspect of Starfield: there are several planets in a system that can be explored, and over 100 systems, with a total of over 1000 planets available to scavenge for artifacts on. It’s massive, see?

We’ll find out how big of a hard drive we’ll need when Starfield launches for Xbox and Game Pass within the next 12 months.
