Aliens suck again in the upcoming project from Rick & Morty’s creator
Back in the 80s, I used to watch an amazing TV show, Sledge Hammer, in which a David Rasche’s detective of the same name absolutely loved his gun. Like, he really, really, almost sexually loved his gun. He loved his .44 Magnum Smith & Wesson Model 629 so much, that he would often think it was talking to him, guiding him on what to do next.
Looking back now, maybe that’s not so safe!
Maybe he was high?
Maybe.
Well, Justin Roiland might think that getting high might be a part of the experience, as his upcoming project under his Squanch Games label takes a crack at our gun love affair but twists it into an alien drug cartel extravaganza. The game, High on Life, stars a human who’s been drafted as a bounty hunter to save earth from aliens hell bent on using humans as drugs. The catch is that the guns we use to defeat the aliens are actually alive and talk to us. Because they’re aliens too! So is every weapon in the game.
Cool!
The FPS has some truly wild visuals, mixing bright hues with bizarre settings. There’s plenty of comedy involved, but the backbone of the experience is the creative storytelling, as one would only expect from Roiland and his team.
High on Life launches exclusively on Xbox Series and Game Pass later this year.
