Strategy RPGs are making a comeback in the company
With the great Triangle Strategy having just launched last week, publisher Square Enix isn’t resting on its strategy RPG butts. During today’s PlayStation State of Play event, the company revealed a brand new game in the genre, The DioField Chronicle.
The game takes Square’s tactical and fantastical worlds and mashes them together once again, with a definite “Final Fantasy Tactics meets Fire Emblem” wash over the entire endeavor. Like so many before it, the game plot features an uprising against a ruthless empire, with one last kingdoms standing in the way of evil domination. Players will take their squads of fighters into battle from a regional map, with movement across a “board” that includes both terrain and enemy obstacles.
The DioField Chronicle will land on PlayStation, Switch, Xbox, and Steam later this year.
