Producer Eiji Aonuma asks for a breath of time to complete the game
As foretold by EVERY HUMAN IN HYRULE, including the collective team at SideQuesting, Nintendo has delayed the sequel to Breath of the Wild to Spring 2023.
Series producer Eiji Aonuma reiterated that more time was needed to develop the game, and hinted at the grand scale of the project, noting that there is more than just land and sky to traverse. Could this Zelda game throw us into dungeons once again? Are we going to hit the high seas? Will we play as Zelda? WHAT IS LINK DOING WITH A CYBERNETIC ARM? And will this game LINK several previous Zelda games into one (bring on some Wind Waker water worlds, please)?
Anyhoo, the timing isn’t super long — Nintendo had promised 2022 which everyone believed to mean Holiday 2022. HOWEVER, the last time Nintendo delayed a Zelda game like this, it was pushed to launch alongside the Switch in March of 2017. Now, Nintendo looks to be doing the same 6 years later. Our guess is that we’ll finally see the next generation Switch arrive at that time, with BOTW2 as a cross-gen launch title.
We can probably write this date into our calendars with a pen. Erase the pencil, friends, Link and crew are almost here.
