Would you kindly get excited?
BioShock seems like a property that would be perfect for a film adaptation. From the Little Sisters to the Big Daddies to the twists and turns, all wrapped up in undersea Art Deco magic, the plot is great and the environment incredibly memorable. Take-Two has been presumably shopping around the idea of a film for years (maybe close to saying decades?) and now they finally have their wish.
Netflix has announced that a BioShock movie is indeed in production, and will be produced by Vertigo Entertainment. There are strong hints of a cinematic universe of content, which seems like it would be perfect for the IP considering the big reveals in BioShock Infinite. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that there hasn’t been a writer or director attached to the film yet, but the negotiations have been going on for about a year.
Don’t expect the movie any time soon, but we now have a more solid footing than what’s transpired over the last 14 years when a movie was first planned back in 2008.
