Mario Kart “Nein”: Nintendo reveals Booster Course Pass for current game

DLC will bring four dozen new tracks to the game

Everyone wats a brand new Mario Kart game. We’ve had a steady run of games over the last few years, including 2017’s Mario Kart 8 Deluxe port, 2019’s Mario Kart Tour for mobile, and 2020’s Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit. Deluxe has since become the best-selling MK game of the series, and one of the highest selling games of all time. Over 1/3 of Switch owners also own the game, and it continues to sell astoundingly well. So perhaps that guided Nintendo to the decision that it might be a way better idea, monetarily, to capitalize on that number instead of creating an all new game and starting sales from scratch.

The company has announced a new slate of DLC coming to the game. The Booster Course Pass will bring more tracks from throughout the series’ history to the game, truly making it an “Ultimate” version akin to Super Smash Bros. The 48 upcoming tracks will be released over 6 waves, with 8 per wave, through the end of 2023. The courses even include a few from the mobile game Mario Kart Tour, such as Paris and Tokyo. All tracks are being remade to fit the game’s dynamic gameplay, including some of the track hacks that fans have figured out.

The cost of the DLC will be $24.99 for the full pass. OR, if you’re a Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack subscriber you’ll get the DLC for free. The first wave of 8 tracks launches on March 18.
