It Takes Two, Rabbids, and more gaming IP coming to TV

Video games continue to be the hot commodity in IP

Josef Fares and his Hazelight game studio have partnered with dj2 Entertainment to bring It Takes Two to film & TV, they’ve announced. There’s no studio attached yet, nor is there an actual decision if it will be a show or movie, but Variety reports that there’s a bidding war taking place over the property. The game took home several GOTY honors, including at the Game Awards, and has been at the top of year-end lists.

American McGee’s Alice is also getting an adaptation, and the voice of Solid Snake is behind it. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that David Hayter is writing the series, which follows Alice after her adventures in Through the Looking Glass. No platform has picked up the series yet, nor have any cast been announced.

The System Shock adaptation has hired Greg Russo, of the recent Mortal Kombat fame, to pen the show. It was initially announced for the streaming platform Binge.com for 2022, but that would have to be a very late 2022 at this point if they’re just now getting around to writing it. This news comes by way of Deadline.

Finally, one property that we *do* know is coming soon is a movie based on Ubisoft’s Minions, the Rabbids. Rabbids Invasion: Mission To Mars will land on Netflix this month, on February 18th. With an upcoming Mario + Rabbids sequel on the way, it seems like a good time to get the characters back into the spotlight. The movie will be roughly and hour and 10 minutes long, and will send the characters to Mars to help thwart an evil entrepreneur, much like we all plan on doing in real life.
