Some of the most sought-after retro RPGs finally arrive on Switch
Today Nintendo revealed that its first two Mother games (Earthbound & Earthbound Beginnings in the Western world) are finally making their way to the Switch. The games have been absent from Nintendo’s table settings for a while now, last appearing on their own on the Wii U or as additions to Super Smash Bros. They’re highly revered games, telling a story within a modern setting that mixed fantasy, sci-fi, and personal battles.
Earthbound (Mother 2) was a surprisingly sophisticated game for its time in the early 90s, and has held a special place in gamer’s hearts. Now both will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch Online service. Beginnings will land on the NES and Earthbound on the SNES side of the platform. No word on the fable Mother 3, but we can hope for a future reveal.
The games launch on Nintendo Switch Online later today.
