The only Stranger is everyone who watches this, when you think about it
“I know you don’t wanna hear this.”
“Then don’t say it.”
“No can do.”
With beautiful lines like these in a game, you bet your ass that you have our attention. It may not be good attention, but with Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin any attention might acceptable. The game, which looks to thrust players into a bizarro Kanye West mixtape of the original Final Fantasy plot, certainly looks like it takes every cliché from the series and bashes it together.
Spiky hair? Check.
Sexual bosses? Yup.
Reluctant warriors of light who are also sexual bosses with spiky hair? You got it.
Frank Sinatra? Um, huh?
The trailer is absolutely all over the place, and really confuses us more than answers any questions. But that’s what makes it so intriguing? Like, I want to know whatever the hell is going on here, what edibles were eaten during development, and who at Square Enix is sitting on a mountain of blackmail photos to be able to greenlight this.
Anyways, we’re all in. Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin hits PlayStation, Xbox, and Epic Games Store on March 18, 2022.
