The best trilogy of the series is finally headed to Nintendo’s platform
Assassin’s Creed II is well-regarded as a fantastic experience, and a terrific follow-up to the original game in the series. In fact, it was somehow immediately bested the following year by its own sequel, Brotherhood. Though 2011’s Revelations was another good game, by then fans had begun to get burnt out by the Renaissance time period. The three games were collected into one product, the Ezio Collection, and released for the PS4 and Xbox One in 2016.
Now, they’re finally making their way to a Nintendo console. The collection has been announced for the Nintendo Switch, with a release date of February 17, 2022. Rumors began as far back as 2019 that the games could see a release on the platform, so this announcement may not be as much of a shock as it was an inevitability. It follows the Switch release of the Rebel Collection from 2019, which brought together Assassin’s Creed IV and Rogue, and the same year’s Assassin’s Creed III Remastered.
With Ubisoft’s current focus on finishing up the massive Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and it’s interconnected “AssCreed as a Service” project, the company is making its back catalog more accessible to new platforms, like Switch and Stadia, in hopes to squeak out a few more pennies and entice more players to join in the series.
