The narrative/strategy/action combo finds another home
Vanillaware’s intriguing (and for many, beloved) 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is heading to Nintendo’s Switch in 2022. The news comes directly from Atlus during a special stream in which the publisher noted that the game (currently on PS4 and PC) has achieved shipments and digital sales of over 500,000. Moving to Nintendo’s Switch should provide yet another bump to that number, as the platform seems to be perfect for breathing new life into existing JRPGs.
In our review, Zach said that the game is “filled to the brim with themes, genres and alternating story structures while juggling hot button topics of self realization, sexuality, confidence, nationalism and the ethics of globalism, and wrapped up in a story that follows thirteen high-school students in a fictionalized 1980s Japan who are dragged into a futuristic war between mechas and hostile Kaiju.”
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim will launch on Nintendo Switch on April 12, 2022 in the West and April 14, 2022 in Japan.
