The latest Whovian game arrives just in time for the new season
A couple of years back, Doctor Who graced Sony’s PSVR platform with the intriguing Edge of Time, a game that starred Jodie Whittaker’s 13th Doctor in a neat exploration of what the character and concept can bring to VR.
But, fans who wanted to play a non-VR version were a bit out of luck… until now. Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality is provides a big update to the original game, while at the same time placing it on more traditional displays. Serving as a sort of remaster/update, the game contains the content of original while at the same time adding in a whole bunch of new ideas and things to do, including a new story and collectibles.
This expanded version plays in first person view, and tasks players with taking on a new nemesis and a “Reality Virus” that’s erasing existence. It feels very, very Whovian. The biggest selling feature may actually be that the extremely popular Tenth Doctor, played by David Tennant, is now a major part of the story.
Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality is now available on PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam, and coming soon to Nintendo’s Switch on October 28th. This should warm up fans for the upcoming thirteenth season of the series, which kicks off on October 31st — Halloweeeeeen!
