*The actor will play Knuckles the Echidna in the film
I have no idea what an echidna is, but SEGA built a whole franchise around a blue hedgehog and the other spiny mammal that is somehow not related to it at all. That being said, they’re bringing the even more “cool as ice” character of Knuckles into the Sonic the Hedgehog movie sequel.
So, the news is perfect that Idris Elba, of Luther and Suicide Squad fame, would be there to take up the voice.
Yep, that reaction you made is the some one we had when we heard the news too. The actor shared the info via Twitter, showing off Knuckles’ signature.. uh.. knuckles. The gruff voice of Elba will be interesting to hear on the character, since the echidna has normally had a more traditional wise-cracking take.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is scheduled to bring Tails, Dr Robotnik, and now Knuckles into theaters in 2022.
