Breath of the Wild 2’s launch date revealed
The last we heard from Horizon: Forbidden West was that the game was on track for release in 2021. While that was casually thrown out there, rumors and insider reports almost instantly rebuffed that date, instead noting that the game would be delayed into 2022. Sony stayed mum on that front — until now.
Horizon: Forbidden West will launch on February 18th, 2022.
Sony revealed the news during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live event, confirming what the majority of the industry and media (and fans) felt was going to happen anyways. For all intents and purposes, it’s the right call. It’s been a heckuva long 18 months, and we’re all worn down; we can’t imagine how developers are probably feeling either, with many having to completely change their processes in the new “WFH” landscape.
The game will launch on both PS4 and PS5, with preorders going live in September.
Oh, the last time that a Horizon game launched it was dwarfed by the launch of the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild the same week, and with Nintendo telling us that the sequel will hit in 2022… well, you make a guess.
