Missing a few features, but getting special hardware
Halo Infinite has a date, and it’s definitely, for sure arriving this year, guys!
Well, part of it, anyways.
During Gamescom’s Opening Night Live event, Microsoft revealed that the much anticipated next game in the series will arrive on December 8th. The game essentially arrives in two parts: the campaign will be available at both retail and Game Pass, while the multiplayer will be free-to-play and available online. Microsoft revealed a new cinematic trailer for the first multiplayer season.
In order to get the game out in 2021 though, the company had to delay several features that fans have come to expect from the series. Co-op campaign mode won’t arrive until Season 2, which kicks off roughly 3 months after the game’s launch. The mega-popular Forge mode won’t arrive until Season 3, which could be half a year or more after launch. Halo Infinite is obviously a massive undertaking, and while it would be nice to have everything ready at once, we know why that’s not going to happen.
Microsoft DID announce a couple pieces of hardware to keep us occupied in the meantime. A Halo themed Xbox Elite Series 2 controller is a nice touch to those who already have Xboxes and want to upgrade their controls.
Meanwhile, the company announced a Limited Edition Xbox Series X Halo version. There has to be an inside joke there, since all next gen hardware is very limited at this point. It’s absolutely stunning, and may be the nicest Xbox console visual design yet.
Both arrive on November 15th, but GOOD LUCK FINDING THEM.
