No longer in quarantine
Ubisoft has revealed that Rainbow Six: Extraction, formerly known as Quarantine, will be arriving on September 16th. The game will once again be a tactical co-op shooter, and will focus on humans taking on a parasitic alien menace in squads of three, with the ability to choose from 18 different Operators.
During its E3 Ubisoft Forward event, the company revealed that the game’s battle between humans and aliens will be dependent on how players approach and react to not only the different types of beings but also how the environment will affect the overall play. For example, the Archaean, the name for the creatures, will move and function differently when in proximity to the strange goo-like sprawl that grows and covers the world.
Different types of Archaean (Spikers, Tormentors, etc — 10 in all) will provide formidable challenges, and the amount of technology that the players collect will allow them to take on more brutal beasts and venture deeper into the facilities. As players complete missions, they’re offered the ability to enter an airlock to advance to the next section, or to extract their intel and develop their capabilities further. Twelve maps and procedurally generated hazards and item locations will keep playthroughs fresh.
The game arrives on September 16th on PlayStation and Xbox platforms, as well as PC and Stadia.
