Event Roundup: E3 gets a shake-up, Tennocon date revealed

E3 2021 is getting bigger *and* smaller in the same breath

The Summer gaming calendar is filling up rapidly, and E3 2021 is certainly at the center of that. The ESA has revealed its hosts for the all-digital event: Greg Miller, Jacki Jing and Alex “Goldenboy” Mendez. Greg Miller’s choice is especially bittersweet, as he was actually banned from E3 a couple of years back for bizarre reasons — and now he’s hosting! Jacki Jing has been hosting gaming and entertainment events for a variety of years, and Mendez is deep in the esports announcement side. it looks like a great mix of personalities to lead the show.

Meanwhile E3 won’t be hosting Konami any more. The publisher has revealed this it is opting to skip this year, noting that there simply wasn’t enough time for them to prepare an plan for any kind of showcase. They’ll be back next year, they claim. The company noted in their statement that they had several projects in the works, so fans should rest assured. Just give us more Castlevania, please.

But, even though one publisher bows out, like a hydra others swoop in with news. Ubisoft will be hosting a Ubisoft Forward event on the first day of E3, kicking off at 12PM PT/3PM ET. We’ll likely see more info for Far Cry 6, finally.

Square Enix will also make some big announcements at E3, company CEO Yosuke Matsuda told Japan’s Nikkei. There’s no info if there will be some sort of showcase, but all signs point to “probably?”

Digital Extremes is hosting its annual Tennocon event in July, the pub has announced. The Warframe developer have had a massive amount of success with the game and community, and it continues to grow across platforms. The event will take place on July 17th, 2021. They’ve also announced an “all-digital” pack to purchase in celebration, which nets you a bunch of in-game swag.
