The upcoming racer may be more than just a competent Hot Wheels game
It’s a very lite year for racing games. The Need for Speeds and Gran Turismos of the world have been delayed, and the Forzas don’t have any release dates. We’re kind of stuck playing 2019’s games right now. So when a Hot Wheels game is announced, we’re actually raising our eye brows more than we normally would.
In this case, it actually looks pretty decent, at least according to its newest recent gameplay trailer. The upcoming game will take some of the most popular Hot Wheels cars and racing sets, and mash them together with new environments, all true to scale. A livery and track editor will let players customize their racing and share with others online.
Look, it has no right to look this good, but it *IS* being developer by MileStone, the dev studio behind MotoGP, MXGP, and Ride, so there’s already a strong understanding of some of the more extreme elements of the racing world. Hot Wheels Unleashed launches for Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC later this year.
