The Lonely Assassins is a new Doctor Who game and it’s out this week

The Whoniverse appears in the lost phone genre

We’re big fans of the Doctor Who episode “Blink”, as many people rightfully should be. While there have been a few Who-related games in recent years, building one off of the back of that specific episode could be a good direction to take, if done correctly. Kaigan Games (Simulacra, Sara is Missing) are developing The Lonely Assassins as a “lost phone” style game that involves players working with (and without) the Doctor to vanquish the Weeping Angels. The Angels are a more modern Who enemy, one that revolves around statues that come to life the moment someone looks away — often with deadly circumstances.

The game virtually takes place within a phone, as players send and receive messages and solve puzzles using the devices at hand. It’s not an action game, or an RPG, but something that might actually fit pretty well with the Blink episode.

The Lonely Assassins is out this Friday, March 19th, on iOS, Android, and PC.
