Square Enix’s Project Athia has an official name: Forspoken

Squeenix gives a long in coming update on its new next gen game

forspeak (verb) — to cast a bad spell over : bewitch especially by immoderate praise

I had to look that up, because I had no idea what the new title of Square Enix’s upcoming “Project Athia” meant. Forspoken is the new name the publisher is using for its subsidiary Luminous Productions’ next project, an action/adventure/RPG hybrid that stars Frey Holland (played by Ella Balinska), a human suddenly dropped into a mysterious fantasy world name Athia. She comes to understand that she has magical powers, and must use them to survive and escape.

And there’s a dragon! Dragons are cool.

Not much else is known about the game, but now we have a release date too: 2022.

Forspoken looks to bewitch us exclusively on PS5 and PC.
